HQ CAP announces scholarships for 2004-05 Thousand of dollars available to cadets, seniors Scholarships support college and flight train mg

Free money for school and flying - it doesn't get any simpler than that! Each year, Civil Air Patrol provides academic and flight scholarships to deserving cadets and seniors who meet eligibility requirements. Nearly $300,000.00 is available.

General academic scholarships that are sponsored by CAP, USAA, and Who's Who Among American High School Students allow students to use their award at the technical school, college, or graduate school of their choice. That flexibility makes the "Academic Scholarships" category the most sought-after in the overall scholarship program.

Many scholarships go unused, especially those connected with specific colleges.

For example, cadets who plan to major in engineering should investigate the scholarship sponsored by Auburn University's fiber engineering department. Cadets who desire to continue developing leadership skills in a regimented cadet corps should explore the scholarships offered by Texas A&M University, a school which boasts having the largest uniformed student body in the nation. Aspiring pilots should checkout the scholarship to Dowling College's School of Aviation. And CAP members who want to pursue career fields in aviation mechanics or technology should investigate the scholarships sponsored by the Spartan School of Aeronautics.

Cadets who aspire to attend the USAF Academy have a special opportunity through CAP's partnership with the USAF Academy Preparatory School. Each year, at least one slot at the Prep School is reserved for CAP cadets through this special partnership, and completion of the Prep School curriculum almost always leads to an appointment to the Academy. Every cadet applying to the Academy ought to apply for CAP's recommendation to the Prep School as it offers them yet another opportunity to get their application seen by the admissions staff.

Too many scholarship opportunities go unused. Apply today!
